The Department of Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology and at the University of Tennessee invites applications for a non-tenure track position of Lecturer for the Spring semester with possibility to continue on a full time, 9-month lecturer appointment. The primary responsibilities of this position are to teach core undergraduate classes for majors that could include (depending on applicant background and department needs): BIOL 160, intro cell biology, BCMB 230, Human physiology, BCMB 311, cell biology, BCMB 402, advanced biochemistry, BCMB 461 Cancer Biology as well as in other BCMB courses, depending on the needs of the department and the qualifications of the successful applicant. Summer teaching may be an option for additional pay. The Department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology, providing a first-rate environment for engaging students and colleagues in collaborative research and teaching efforts spanning biochemistry, biophysics, molecular and cellular biology. Minimal qualifications: 1) a M.S. or Ph.D. in the area of biochemistry, genetics, cellular or molecular biology with graduate coursework in these disciplines; 2) teaching experience in cellular and/or molecular biology, genetics, development or physiology; and 3) a demonstrated interest in teaching using best practices for student success.

Besides these minimal qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with the following additional qualifications: 1) experience teaching in large introductory lecture in-person courses 2) experience designing and implementing instructional material that are modelled on student-centered learning; and 3) experience supervising and mentoring graduate teaching assistants.
