Technical Director, NCAE Cyber Games Project (Grant-Funded)

Salary: $67,000 DOE

This is a grant-funded position. Grant-funded positions expire either at the end of the stated term or whenever funding for the position ceases.

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time Technical Director in our School of STEM-Transfer. This position oversees the technical aspects of the NCAE CyberGames project, serving as a central point-of-contact for each of the technical teams that work to develop and implement the national competition each year. The Technical Director coordinates both technical and operational aspects of collaborations with other initiatives, pilot projects to expand the reach of the project, and integration of new technologies. They will help the team identify priorities for the development of new technical features and assist with the ongoing refinement of internal processes and procedures to achieve the best outcomes for the project.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Provides technical oversight of MVCC’s virtual learning environment (VLE), web presence, and related systems that enable and support the NCAE-Cyber Games initiative;
  • Serves as the first layer of support for all technical issues including availability, functionality, and resolution of trouble tickets;
  • Serves as the technical lead on the evidencing competency pilot projects. Leads efforts to map challenge content, develop pilot competencies, and develop the technical capacity to validate completion of related challenges;
  • Develops and implements a strategy for issuing badges to recognize participant achievements;
  • Serves as a technical point-of-contact for collaborative efforts with other initiatives;
  • Coordinates pilot initiatives and exercises with external agencies;
  • Performs software engineering tasks;
  • Assists in researching new technologies for potential implementation;
  • Supervises and evaluates staff, as appropriate;
  • Administers and supports virtual platform hardware and network connectivity;
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Dean of STEM-Transfer within the NSA/CAE National competition project.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or information security
  • Must live in New York State and have the ability to work remotely

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cybersecurity competition design and implementation experience
  • Strong understanding of cryptography, vulnerability exploitation and indicators of compromise
