Description:

Hofstra University’s Department of Radio, Television, Film invites applications for one anticipated full-time, tenure-track faculty position starting in fall 2023. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in film production, continued scholarly and professional activities, and Hofstra University service.

The successful candidate must demonstrate competency with all “hands on” aspects of narrative independent filmmaking, including pre-production, production and post-production. In addition, they should demonstrate competency in cinematography (including current digital cinema cameras and basic lighting), as well as non-linear editing and digital post-production.We seek candidates who are resourceful, responsive, teacher-practitioners, including non-traditional candidates who are knowledgeable about current tools and best practices in the field. The successful candidate will have prior teaching experience and/or be prepared to demonstrate teaching ability.Candidates must be committed to reflecting diversity and inclusion in their syllabi and working with a diverse student population, faculty, and staff.Candidates for tenure-track appointments are expected to establish a successful record of industry-related professional output and/or academic scholarship, as well as participate in service to the department, the school, and the university—including committee work, academic advising and curriculum development.The film programs at Hofstra are ranked among the best in the nation according to the leading entertainment industry magazine, Variety.
