Description:

The Department of Computer Science, at Hofstra University, invites applications for four tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level to begin in Fall 2023. Strong candidates in all areas of computer science are encouraged to apply. Faculty members are expected to be capable of teaching a range of courses. Preference will be given to candidates in the areas of Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Architecture, Parallel Processing, Robotics, or Embedded Systems.

The programs in the Computer Science Department are experiencing rapid growth, and the successful applicants will contribute to the further development of a top-tier undergraduate educational institution. The department offers BA, BS, and MS degrees in Computer Science, a BS in Computer Engineering, MS in Data Science, and BS and MS degrees in Cybersecurity. The BS programs in Computer Engineering and Computer Science are accredited by ABET. Current faculty research interests include biometrics, cloud computing, cybersecurity and privacy, computer vision, cognitive neuroscience, computability, data mining, software engineering, and programming languages. The department has newly updated facilities with 6 labs, including a “Big Data” lab with 20 servers, a 64 CPU machine, and IPB storage. In June 2023, the Department of Computer Science will be relocating to a new $75M Science and Innovation Center currently nearing completion. The state-of-the-art building will house the most powerful computational capability, a wide variety of cloud services on campus, and include a GPU Cluster. This exciting new Data Center will provide very significant capabilities for both teaching and research in the fields of AI and machine learning and many other computationally intensive areas.

Qualifications:

Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field by September 1, 2023.

Faculty members are expected to be capable of teaching a range of courses. Preference will be given to candidates in the areas of Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Architecture, Parallel Processing, Robotics, or Embedded Systems
