Organizational Unit Overview:East Carolina University is a public doctoral/research university in Greenville, North Carolina, with an enrollment of nearly 29,000 students. It is the third largest university in North Carolina. ECU offers 87 bachelor’s degree programs, 69 master’s degree programs, 13 research doctoral degrees, 5 professional doctoral degrees, the Brody School of Medicine and School of Dental Medicine.
The School of Music, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 250 music majors and minors with over 50 faculty and staff. The school is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
The School of Music invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy and Group Piano. This will be a tenure-track, nine-month, full-time position beginning August 2023. Applicants meeting the qualifications with the appropriate experience are encouraged to apply. Primary responsibilities will be to direct the undergraduate group piano program; supervise and mentor graduate teaching assistants; teach undergraduate and graduate piano pedagogy courses; recruit and advise undergraduate and graduate pianists with pedagogy in their related field; collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative programs that bring national attention to the Keyboard Department and School of Music; pursue scholarly research activities to create publications in journals and presentations on conferences nationwide; actively engage with local and regional piano teachers and music teaching organizations. Other duties as assigned.

Master’s in Music required. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :D.M.A. or Ph. D. in piano performance or piano pedagogy. Prior university or college teaching experience is preferred.
