Director of Enrollment Management

Arkansas State University-Newport

The Director for Strategic Enrollment Management reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and is the leader of the enrollment management team. The Director designs and advances strategic initiatives directly related to new student recruitment and enrollment. As the primary enrollment strategist, the Director will provide strategic vision for recruitment and enrollment, being data-driven in their approach. The Director works collaboratively with multiple college and community constituents, tracking information and trends to determine optimal recruitment efforts and evaluating effectiveness of various lead generation approaches. The Director is responsible for community outreach, prospective student engagement, and owns the responsibility to manage the CRM software. The Director reflects, articulates and promotes the mission, vision, and identity of the College, both internally and externally.

The annual salary for this position is $55,000.00.

Minimum Qualifications

· Requires a bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in higher education preferably student affairs/enrollment services.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including expertise in presenting publicly and speaking on behalf of a college.

· Ability to identify data needed to drive decision-making as well as analyze and present enrollment metrics.

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to design and advance a unified recruitment strategy.

· Demonstrated skill and technical ability in modern software applications, preferably with a CRM (Constituent Relationship Management) software.

Preferred Qualifications

· Master's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education, student affairs/enrollment services.

· Experience in enrollment management and community engagement including experience with a CRM software application.

· Demonstrated commitment to community college student access and success.

· Ability to lead and support diverse initiatives.

· Understanding of best practice recruitment strategies and admissions business processes.

· Strong organizational, time management and project planning skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains a strategic enrollment and recruitment plan with measurable goals and objectives. Monitors and analyzes enrollment and regional workforce data to identify target populations for recruitment and provides flexible, rapid response to emerging opportunities; evaluates and reports on trends and developments across priority and emerging markets to inform the College’s recruitment strategy.
  • · Position the college's value in the minds of prospective students and families in a way that allows them to envision their enrollment at Arkansas State University-Newport.

    · Advise College leadership regarding enrollment barriers facing prospective students.

    · Design effective Marketing and programming that conveys the college's culture and opportunities.

    · Partner with Marketing Department to create both innovative and targeted marketing strategies.

    · Represents the college directly, or through leading of staff; at -enrollment sponsored events on or off campus; develops, and manages all recruitment activities.

    · Developing recruitment efforts targeting underrepresented high school and community college student populations.

    · Develop and implement strategies to increase enrollment in non-credit programs.

    · Evaluates and improves the practices of the student-enrollment experience, including timely, effective and positive engagement with students and families throughout the entirety of their experiences with admissions, financial aid and registration.

    · Analyzes inquiry and application trends to identify potential opportunities for advancement or efficiency; monitors admissions activities and processes through analysis from key performance indicators.

    · Assists leadership in developing policies and administration of institutional grants and scholarships, and associated leveraging strategies.

    · Collaborates with staff and faculty in key areas to support and assist in recruitment efforts; cultivates and maintains relationships with high schools, guidance counselors and other constituents to assist in accomplishing enrollment objectives.

    · Presents and analyzes data regarding new student admissions to assess status toward goals, areas of concern, and relevant trends, and use of that data to direct recruitment initiatives mid-cycle and for future planning.

    · Using technology platforms, develops programs to achieve effective communication with prospective and current students to facilitate persistence and student retention using the most appropriate and effective communication channels.

    1976 - Arkansas State University-Newport (ASUN) founded as White River Vocational Technical School.

    1992 - ASUN merged with Arkansas State University-Beebe to become ASU Beebe/Newport. 

    2000 - Arkansas Board of Higher Education approved ASUN to be its own, stand-alone campus.

    2001 - ASUN hired its first Chancellor, Dr. Larry Williams.

    2002 - Gift received from Arkansas Steel and Associates of $250,000 to endow cultural programs.

    2002 - ASUN received initial national accreditation by Higher Learning Commission.

    2003 - ASUN enrollment exceeds 1,000 students.

    2004 - Gift received from Walton Family Foundation in the amount of $1 million, in honor of Lindley and Kaneaster Hodges Jr.

    2004 - Ground broke on a Student Community Center.

    2004 - The high voltage lineman technology program was created from a partnership between ASUN and the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas.

    2005 - Named by Community College Week magazine as one of the top ten fastest-growing public two-year colleges.

    2006 - Ten-year accreditation granted by Higher Learning Commission of North Central Accreditation.

    2006 - First fully online degree program offered - Associate of Arts in Business.

    2007 - ASUN assumed operational oversight for the technical centers in both Jonesboro and Marked Tree.

    2009 - ASUN enrollment exceeds 2,000 students.

    2012 - ASUN hosts "First Decade Celebration" in Newport, Marked Tree and Jonesboro.

    2012 - $1 million gift received from Fowler Family in support of Hospitality Services program.

    2013 - Dr. Sandra Massey named ASUN's second Chancellor.

    2014 - ASUN becomes fifth largest community college in Arkansas in headcount enrollment.

    2015 - 2500 STRONG - In Fall 2015 beat it's all-time enrollment record with 2,533 students.
