Administrative Associate II

Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS)

This Administrative Associate position will be in the MTAS codification department.  They will help produce municipal codes, revisions of municipal codes, and updates of these codes for Tennessee cities and towns.  Additionally, this position is responsible for city charter updates for Tennessee municipalities.  They will keep the MTAS codes and charter databases up-to-date as changes are made.  They will work closely with city clerks and recorders, MTAS paralegals, MTAS legal consultants, and MTAS city consultants during these processes.  They will also perform special project work as assigned

 



Qualifications
Duties and Responsibilities:

The main function of this position will be to assist municipalities with new codes, code revisions, codes updates, and charter production.  This position plans, organizes, and produces individual codes, revisions, updates, and charters.  They work close with both city officials and MTAS consultants during this process.  They decide which ordinances to include and where each one should go in the code.  They will research the published private acts of the Tennessee General Assembly to compile private acts charters for cities with that form of government and revise them annually.  This position will also handle much of the word processing of our Codes process.  They will proofread, organize, and edit the codes and charters that they are handling.  They will also perform special tasks as needed, such as but not limited to, front desk coverage, mailing, etc.

Required Qualifications:
Education:   

A high school diploma or GED is required

Experience:    

This position requires three (3) years of experience with administrative assistance. 

Skills:   

Codes preparation requires excellent organizational skills and knowledge of grammar, writing ability, proofreading skills, and the ability to multi-task. Independent decision-making ability is necessary. Good customer service skills and the ability to use good judgment is required. Word processing requires knowledge and expertise in the latest version of WordPerfect. Requires excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
