Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of Academic Enrichment at Kutztown University invites applications for a temporary full-time Upward Bound (UB) Director beginning spring semester 2023.This grant-funded faculty position is responsible for providing the overall leadership and administration of the Kutztown University Upward Bound program with the Allentown School District – William Allen High School; supervising staff’ designing, managing and implementing all aspects of the program’s components; ensuring compliance with federal regulations; and for meeting the program’s goals, objectives and outcomes. The director will be responsible for planning and implementing all program activities outlined in the grant proposal, developing and selecting curriculum materials, and participating in academic year activities including after-school and weekend activities, as well as a 6-week summer program.

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service. Required: Master’s degree in Education, Education Administration, Counseling, Student Affairs, Psychology, or a related field; 3-5 years of experience working with youth programs and/or in an educational setting; demonstrated experience in designing, managing, or implementing similar programs. Preferred: doctoral degree in Education, Educational Administration, Counseling, Student Affairs, Psychology, or a related field; 3-5 years of experience working with inner city youth; experience with a public university or college setting and/or secondary school setting; bilingual English/Spanish; demonstrated experience supervising multiple professional staff.
