VICE PRESIDENT FOR UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT

Trine University invites confidential applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for University Advancement. The university seeks an ambitious, accomplished, senior advancement administrator to join a highly collaborative senior leadership team to direct institutional fund raising and enhance alumni relations.

Trine University is a nationally competitive, comprehensive, private university with an emphasis in professional studies and grounded in exceptional programs in the arts and sciences. Founded in 1884 as Tri-State Normal College, the University has been producing graduates for more than 130 years. In 2008, the institutional name was changed from Tri-State University to Trine University in honor of trustees Drs. Ralph and Sheri Trine and to vault it from a regional institution to one of national prominence. The main campus is located in Angola, Indiana. The College of Health Professions, a new $45 million facility currently under construction, is housed in Fort Wayne. Additional satellite campuses are located in Detroit, Phoenix and Reston, VA to serve the Office of International Students.

The Vice President for University Advancement (VPUA) is Trine’s chief development officer, reports directly to the President and is a member of the President’s cabinet. In the fall of 2013, Trine kicked off a $75 million capital campaign, later expanded to $125 million, and concluded in the spring of 2021 having raised over $137 million, focusing on capital improvement projects, endowment and the annual Trine fund.

The Trine University community seeks a VPUA who models innovative leadership and an empowering management style, strong advocacy for the University externally and the Advancement division internally, and excellent communication skills.

A few qualifications for the VPUA include:

  • A talented, seasoned advancement leader with strong leadership and management skills, with a proven track record of quantifiable success in higher education or related fields
  • A demonstrated commitment to innovation and sustainable and continuous growth
  • A strategic thinker who can develop and implement a vision for the Advancement division and leverage the opportunities that stem from that strategic vision
  • Demonstrated personal success in major donor cultivation and solicitation, with a goal of increasing overall donor participation
