- Perform research experiments on an independent project and record data under the mentorship of Dr. Grillo.Troubleshoot experimental protocols, organize complex data, and analyze/interpret results within the context of the research project.Read, analyze, evaluate, and critique primary research.Actively mentor, help, and/or train junior laboratory personnel to enhance their career development.Establish and manage collaborations between diverse research laboratories.Effectively communicate experimental hypotheses, protocols, analyses, results, and project details in one-on-one or group meetings, journal clubs, conferences, etc.Actively participate in the writing of research papers, grants, and other documents.Attend scientific conferences, meetings, and workshops to enhance the career development of the candidate.Apply for extramural funding and training opportunities.Perform related duties based on laboratory needs. This job description may change as the research project progresses.
Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, or other health-related disciplines at the time of appointment.
Additional Qualifications Considered- Strong record of research accomplishments and peer-reviewed publications.Demonstrated oral and written communication skills through previous publications and conference presentations.Presentations of scientific results at national meetings.Expertise in mitochondrial metabolism, hypoxia, proteinopathies, and/or metals in age-related neurodegenerative diseases.Experience working with mouse models of human disease.Experience in isolating primary neurons, developing iPSC-derived neurons, cell culture, and aseptic technique.
