Oregon State University (OSU) seeks a creative and strategic individual to lead OSU-Cascades, the university's campus in central Oregon, as its Chancellor and Dean.

OSU-Cascades, which currently serves approximately 1,200 students, is in the heart of Bend, a city consistently ranked as one of the best places to live and work in the US. When OSU-Cascades began operations at its present location in 2016, it fulfilled a 30-year quest by central Oregon leaders and citizens for local access to a traditional four-year university experience for students in the region. The opening was the culmination of collaborative efforts of community and university stakeholders and a series of decisions by state government leaders, higher education officials, and OSU administrators that began in mid-1980s.

OSU is Oregon's land-grant university and the state's only institution to hold both a Carnegie R1 (very research-intensive) designation and Community Engagement classification. In addition to OSU-Cascades, the university consists of a main campus in Corvallis, the nation's 5th ranked online education program (Ecampus), joint programming with Eastern Oregon University, the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, and the OSU Portland Center. Through its two campuses and centers, agricultural research experiment stations, Extension offices, and research forests, OSU operates in all 36 Oregon counties.

As Chancellor and Dean, the OSU-Cascades leader has both academic and operational responsibilities. Reporting to Oregon State's Provost and Executive Vice President, the Chancellor and Dean serves as a member of the Provost's Council of Deans and works closely with leadership across the university to advance the excellence and impact of OSU-Cascades as a highly innovative campus that brings the resources of a land grant research institution and small university experience to central Oregon.

The ideal candidate will possess an earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree and a record of scholarship and teaching requisite for an appointment as a tenured full professor at Oregon State University. They will bring a record of excellence in leadership positions of increasing responsibility at institutions of higher education, and experience in developing and executing academic and research strategies across disciplines. The Chancellor and Dean will have demonstrated experience in promoting diverse and inclusive environments and improving access to higher education for all.
