The President of Wittenberg University, Dr. Michael L. Frandsen, and the Provost Search Committee invite nominations and applications for the position of Provost. The successful candidate will have opportunities to build on existing momentum and lead the process of enhancing academic programs to meet the needs of current and future students.

The ideal candidate will be a person of honesty, integrity, and courage. They will be a transformational and inclusive leader focused on innovative teaching and learning in a student-centered educational community. Wittenberg seeks an exemplary administrator with an outstanding record of teaching and research, who is committed to partnering with faculty and across campus to deliver a multifaceted and evolving 21st century liberal arts education, one that occurs both in and outside the classroom, on and off campus, in residence halls, across the arts, in studios and laboratories, and on courts and fields. The candidate selected will also ensure consistent quality standards in curriculum and in all programs. Additionally, expectations are that the candidate will be a decisive, yet thoughtful and collaborative leader capable of articulating the distinct benefits of a Wittenberg education to diverse constituents while demonstrating an ability to manage human and fiscal resources effectively.

Requirements for the Position

The position of Provost at Wittenberg requires certain talents, skills, and experiences that will enable continuing growth and development of the academic programs and the University, including the following:

Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university

Successful and progressively responsible experience in academic administration at a college or university

Academic and scholarly credentials appropriate to consideration for rank of professor and tenure

Respectful of and committed to the mission of Wittenberg University

Committed to academic governance

Experienced budget manager in all academic areas, including instruction, curriculum development and academic support

Experienced in program creation, guidance, assessment, and accreditation

Ability to guide and support grant writing at the institutional level, and in general someone highly experienced in faculty and resource development

Strategic thinker with a commitment to student retention and success

Outstanding communication skills

Team builder who can collaborate on multiple levels with many constituencies

Ability to develop, articulate, and implement a strategic vision for the academic program

Attuned to critical contemporary issues facing higher education
