The College of Nursing has an opening for a part-time, hourly Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) / Adjunct Instructor for a non-benefitted position within the Child Health Clinic at the Children's Hospital Colorado. This position is clinic based as a health care provider, scheduled as needed, and is hired at the level of an Adjunct Instructor within the College of Nursing.

Nature of Work:

The University of Colorado, College of Nursing, is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) for a part-time, hourly non-benefitted position. This position will practice as needed in the Children's Hospital Colorado evening Child Health Clinic outpatient clinic providing healthcare (alongside other faculty providers including physicians and other advanced practice nurse practitioners) to a select population of children and adolescents. The College of Nursing is collaborating with the Child Health Clinic to have our CU Advanced Practice Nurse Faculty provide healthcare in this clinic setting, allowing them to better-serve their community; and allowing CU the opportunity to instruct our nurse practitioner students during clinical placement times throughout each semester. This position is clinic based as a health care provider and is hired at the level of an Instructor in the Non-Tenure Clinical Practice Track within the College of Nursing.

Clinic Description:

The Child Health Clinic is a primary care pediatric practice for children living in Aurora and the Denver metro area. This clinic offers appointments to children from birth to 21 years of age for well-child care, urgent care and long-term health issues. The Child Health Clinic has 28,000 visits per year of which 60% are children ages 0-3, 53% Latino and 40% are Spanish speaking. The healthcare team consists of attending advanced practice providers who are faculty members of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, resident doctors whom they supervise, and other specially trained staff including social workers, community health navigators, Health Habits, integrated mental health team, lactation consultants and the asthma team.

Supervision Received:

Work is performed independently under the general direction of the Clinic Director and authority of the Associate Dean for Clinical and Community Affairs through CU's College of Nursing.

Supervision Exercised:

There is no supervision responsibility exercised by this position within the College of Nursing; must perform within designated clinical practice guidelines. Resident, Fellow, and Student supervision is required during clinical placements.

Examples of Work Performed:
    Collaborates with CON pediatric faculty for the coordination of required clinical competencies and clinical course work of graduate students. Performs accurate history and physical examinations Provides primary care to children and adolescents including ordering and evaluation of diagnostic tests and management of minor complications. Provides individualized client teaching and counseling utilizing evidence based practice. Identifies deviations from normal and consults as needed. Completes necessary documentation. Instructs and supervises students and other learners as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Provides healthcare at other pediatric clinics as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring range for this position has been established at:
Instructor Adjunct: $43.46 - $48.90/hour
Senior Instructor Adjunct: $43.46 - $48.90/hour
Assistant Professor Adjunct: $43.46 - $48.90/hour

Minimum Qualifications:

Instructor Adjunct:
    Graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing Current board certification as a PNP Current RN, RXN, and APRN licensures in good standing (any state) Must have CO licensures by date of hire. Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies.
Minimum of 2 years' advanced practice experience as a PNP
Senior Instructor Adjunct:
    Graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing Current board certification as a PNP Current RN, RXN, and APRN licensures in good standing (any state) Must have CO licensures by date of hire. Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies.
Minimum of 2 years' advanced practice experience as a PNP Demonstrated leadership in area of practice. Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.
Assistant Professor Adjunct:
    PhD/DNP from an accredited school of nursing Current board certification as a PNP Current RN, RXN, and APRN licensures in good standing (any state) Must have CO licensures by date of hire. Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies.
Minimum of 2 years' advanced practice experience as a PNP Demonstrated leadership in area of practice. Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.
Conditions of employment:
    Must be willing and able to obtain Colorado RN, RXN and APRN licenses by date of hire. Must be willing and able to apply for DEA licensure within 30 days of hire Must be willing and able to obtain valid NPI number by date of hire Must be willing and able to obtain valid Colorado Medicaid Provider number by date of hire Must be willing and able to complete CAQH by date of hire Must be willing and able to obtain current BLS/CPR certification by date of hire. Must be willing and able to actively participation in health plan contracts. Must be willing and able to remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current. Must be willing and able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases. Preferred Qualifications:
    Clinical experience in a pediatric primary care location Prior student precepting experience Prior experience working in an academic setting Experience utilizing bilingual skills (Spanish/English) at a conversation level in a clinical setting.

Competencies:
    Considerable degree of independent judgment and work priorities is necessary to monitor and respond to changes in a client's condition. Ability to use computer and clinic software, and to document in EHR, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with patients, their families, and other members of the health care team Excellent knowledge of and ability to perform clinical teaching Attention to details. Ability to remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current. Ability to effectively develop and promote practice through participation in marketing and patient recruitment Ability to take one week-at-a-time on-call in a rotation schedule. Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to balance patient care and student precepting responsibilities to maintain clinic productivity standards.
