Neill Epperson, MD who is expanding existing programs and launching new initiatives within the growing Department and through clinical, research and training collaborations across the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Position Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry collaborates closely with a broad range of clinical departments at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) to provide integrated behavioral health care in primary and specialty medical settings. We are also establishing new integrated behavioral health services in additional specialty medical practices across the hospital. Our Department is committed to recruiting several clinical social workers with competencies to provide interprofessional program development, clinical services and outcomes assessment. This position will focus primarily on providing direct clinical care and behavioral interventions. The social worker will collaborate with the medical social workers in the practice , but in this role, the LCSW will provide direct therapeutic service to patients in at least one of the following outpatient integrated specialty settings:
    Neurology: Psychosocial and behavioral care of outpatients with headaches, seizure disorders, TBI/Concussions, multiple sclerosis and other chronic neurological and neurodegenerative disorders.
    Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine: Care of outpatients with a range of pulmonary conditions including COVID-19. Sleep Medicine: Cognitive Behavioral approaches to sleep disorders in adults across the life span. Endocrinology/Diabetes Service: Psychosocial and behavioral care of outpatients with diabetes and other chronic endocrine disorders.

Clinical social workers recruited for these positions will become part of the Department of Psychiatry's growing and dynamic Adult Division.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Clinical Instructor, Clinical Senior Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor. The Clinical designation is classified as an employee who works less than 0.5 FTE

Responsibilities may include:
    Develop evidence-based, integrated behavioral health programs in the specialty setting(s) using best practice models. Develop goals and objectives for the services and programs and all associated practice management duties. Develop and implement a programmatic evaluation plan including patient and provider benchmarks. Demonstrate sensitivity to the special needs of all patients, families and colleagues with respect to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, gender, gender identity, ability status, religion, political beliefs, socioeconomic status and any other factors related to systemic oppression. Provide the full range of psychological assessments, psychosocial & behavioral interventions (e.g., individual and group), and education to patients seen in these specialty settings. Provide education and support for family members and the specialty setting team regarding the psychosocial status of patients. Consultation and collaboration with interprofessional team members in specialty settings and other clinical departments to develop intervention strategies related to physical and psychosocial challenges. Actively participate in treatment and follow-up planning for patients and families. Chart patient visits using an electronic medical record. Triage and refer patients as needed to collaborating colleagues across disciplines, Departments and communities Participate in training Department of Psychiatry Social Work Trainees and MSW Interns.

Supervision Received

Clinicians hired into these roles will report to the Director of Integrated Care, Adult Division. Supervision and mentorship will also be available from senior health psychologists and a licensed clinical social worker with years of experience in health care settings.

This position may supervise Department of Psychiatry Social Work Trainees and MSW Interns, Psychology and other behavioral health trainees.

Clinical Instructor: $27,600 - $41,650 (prorated based on FTE).

Clinical Senior Instructor: $27,600 - $41,650 (prorated based on FTE).

Clinical Assistant Professor: $27,600 - $41,650 (prorated based on FTE).

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Clinical Assistant Professor:
    1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: Master's degree in social work from an accredited program and a clinical license (LCSW). Eligible for licensure or a licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado. Ability to obtain and maintain credentialing through the University of Colorado Health system.

Preferred Qualifications:
    Training and experience in integrated specialty care including behavioral medicine and/or Consultation Liaison (CL) services. Experience collaborating with integrated team-based care in specialty medical settings that promotes an inclusive environment. Training and experience in CBT and CBT-I for sleep disorders. Knowledge of the impact of trauma and the interplay of trauma with medical and neurological disease. Interest in developing a collaborative program of research in specialty medical settings, although research interest is not required for this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team model and with diverse colleagues, medical specialists, and trainees across disciplines. Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students. Strong commitment to inter-professional, team-based care in the Department of Psychiatry and in specialty health settings.
