Nature of Work The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) and the Center for Global Health have an opening for a full-time position at the rank of Professional Research Assistant (PRA). This position will utilize knowledge of public health practices and principles, project management and quality laboratory system principles. The Center for Global Health has five areas of focus: family and child health, community health system development (with an emphasis on eHealth), translational research (with an emphasis on vaccines, new therapeutics, and diagnostics), adult health (with an emphasis on non-communicable disease, women's health and occupational health), and education in Colorado and throughout the world. At the Center for Global Health (CGH) at the Colorado School of Public Health we activate people and programs willing to improve the health and well-being of millions around the world. Our work includes implementation of clinical training programs, infrastructure development for the prevention and treatment of communicable diseases and comprehensive pregnancy care, and corporate consultation in global health education. The Colorado School of Public Health is a collaborative endeavor involving the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz), Colorado State University (CSU), and the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). Chu, Clinical Professor, and may be assigned to work with other members of the staff as needed. Supervision Exercised May oversee graduate students' assignments, coordinate work of project peers. Examples of Work Performed This position involves project management and operations. Work is largely focused on the coordination and implementation of the target goals of public health surveillance projects undertaken by the Center for Global Health on behalf of multiple partnerships. Work will include, but not be limited to:
  • Organize day-to-day functions of the projects according to the goals/targets.
  • Ensure projects, partners and staff are working in synchronization.
  • Develop policy, protocols and documents.
  • Prepare and submit institutional research approvals.
  • Programmatic analysis and generation/upkeep of data collection and analysis tools.
  • Organize, plan and conduct meetings, webinars and presentations.
  • Develop public health research proposals and implementation as needed.
  • Prepares communication publications and scientific manuscripts.
  • Prepare data summaries and present results.
  • Salary and Benefits The salary / salary range for this position has been established at $45,000 to $58,000.
    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
      Bachelor's degree in public health, biology, microbiology, environmental health or a closely related field. Two-four years of previous laboratory or field investigation experience.
    Preferred Qualifications
      Master's degree in public health or equivalent. Writing and speaking in a second language. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Good organization skills and high attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of surveillance and applications of results towards outcomes.
  • Knowledge and respect of multicultural and diverse partners and interactions.
  • Skill in organizing complex projects to help team members agree and deliver their assigned tasks.
  • Ability to guide project ethical reviews and data capture.
  • Ability to prepare reports, manuscripts and organize meetings and workshops.
  • Conditions of Employment Occasionally, planned work may require working in the evening or on weekends. Travel to domestic and international partner sites or meetings may be required. The employee will be working closely with the principal investigator in a scientific and administrative environment with growth potential.
