The Elementary Education program in the School of Teacher Education at Florida State University invites applications for a twelve-month, instructional position in elementary education, with a specialization in mathematics education and culturally responsive teaching, at the rank of Teaching Faculty I. We seek a colleague to support the program in its commitment to preparing effective elementary teachers. The position will begin in August 2023 and offers the opportunity to work in a major research university with accomplished and innovative faculty committed to transforming the field of education.

Responsibilities

Major responsibilities include:

    Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the Elementary Education, Mathematics Education, and across teacher preparation programs; Serving as an instructor/supervisor for field practicum courses and student teaching; Providing service to schools, the University, Department, College, and the profession; and Growing and supporting existing community partnerships with local school districts and service organizations.
Qualifications Earned doctorate in Mathematics Education (or a related field such as Urban Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or Elementary Education, with a focus on mathematics education) by August 2023

    Commitment to teaching for social justice (through courses such as culturally relevant pedagogy and/or mathematics education) and use of research-based practicesThree years of teaching experience in grades K–12 settingsStrong organizational and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
    Experience teaching antiracist and/or culturally relevant pedagogy courses Experience in elementary teacher education courses (including mathematics education and/or culturally relevant pedagogy) K – 12 certification in elementary or secondary mathematics education Experience supervising teacher candidates in field practicum/internship
