Housing Maintenance Technician

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the position of Housing Maintenance Technician. This is a full-time position with benefits in University Housing.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:· Perform high-level trade skills in the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities; including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, appliance, and carpentry;· Maintain documentation regarding work activities through StarRez housing software;· Request and utilize equipment and materials appropriately;· Operate University vehicles, such as box truck, pick-up truck, van, forklift, man-lift, and golf cart;· Move furniture, supplies and equipment;· Inspect Housing facilities and equipment;· Promote and use best safety practices;· Complete all required trainings;· Complete general custodial work;· Participate in on-call rotation in coordination with other maintenance staff;· Follow emergency protocols and collaborate with Resident Success Staff in emergency situations; and· Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least two (2) years related work experience in all phases of general and preventative maintenance is required. Must have a valid state driver’s license and satisfactory 3-year driving record. Knowledge of hand tools and power equipment used in the plumbing profession preferred.

Trades Specialist IV (KC40/61122838/FTE-S00696P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range: $35,360.00 (minimum) to $50,394.00 (midpoint). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Normal work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Must be able to work overtime; before start of shift, at end of shift, weekends, etc.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma and two (2) years related work experience in all phases of general and preventative maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of hand tools and power equipment used in the plumbing profession preferred.

Required Licensure and/or Certification:

Must have a valid state driver’s license and satisfactory 3-year driving record.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the general maintenance of buildings including common hand tools and portable, hand-held power tools. Able to operate University vehicles including vans, trucks, golf carts, forklifts, and “man-lift” devices. Possess knowledge of safety practices and the skills to make emergency and general repairs and/or adjustments to equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work from ladders or elevated platforms and rooftops.
