Job Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for developing and executing detailed project plans based on strategic integrated marketing communications campaigns. The work involves day-to-day management of marketing communications projects, including creative and digital campaigns, to generate qualified opportunities that lead to revenue growth.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Fields creative services requests, including those for graphics, photography, and videography. Develops and implements production plans: analyzes customer trends; manages information and measures progress on tasks, projects, and goals; and performs related activities.
  • Manage and supervise the execution and implementation of projects, ensuring project completion is on time and on budget. (May need to work outside the typical workday on occasion to assist in meeting deadlines for projects or support the department at special events.)
  • Provide managerial oversight of the department’s annual production calendar, with a particular focus on recurring projects; responsible for maintaining calendar and deadlines as well as measuring internal effectiveness.
  • Adjust schedules and targets on projects as needed; communicate changes with necessary individuals/department.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal departmental liaisons; ensure client satisfaction of proposed marketing campaigns.
  • Maintain current and accurate understanding of the university, its programs, and its stakeholders to inform effective marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and complete reports and provide analysis as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience with project management theory and best practices, graphic design principles, software applications (including project management software and Microsoft Office), and basic Web design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively and professionally with all constituencies of a multifaceted community.
  • The ability to build relationships, balancing the multiple, varying, and sometimes competing interests of various stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively express ideas clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze information for effective decision-making.
  • Attention to detail to prepare reports and correspondence, and coordinate information.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to facilitate positive outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and materials.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, journalism, or related field, and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Experience in a higher education or marketing/communications environment preferred.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must occasionally travel to meetings and conferences off campus, which may include some overnight travel.
