Organizational Unit Overview:

The College of Health and Human Performance provides instruction, conducts research, and performs service in health education and promotion, kinesiology, human development and family science, social work, interior design and merchandising, and recreation and leisure. The mission of the College of Health and Human Performance is to improve health, well-being, and quality of life. The primary focus of the college is to advance and disseminate knowledge concerning maintenance and enhancement of health and quality of life.
Drop Off Child Care (DOCC) at Darden is drop off childcare for ECU students, staff, and faculty and is located on East Carolina University Main Campus of Greenville, NC. This facility supports the Department of Human Development and Family Science under the College of Health and Human Performance.

Job Duties :

Drop Off Child Care (DOCC) Program Coordinator will supervise undergraduate and graduate students that are employed. The DOCC will serve a maximum of 20 children ranging in ages 1-8 Monday through Thursday from 6-9. The program Coordinator is a 20 hour position and will have planning time before and after operating hours.
The DOCC’s Mission is to provide high quality drop off childcare for children 1-8 years old. The DOCC aims to support ECU student success and support faculty and staff employed at ECU.

Operations:Manage bookings and schedule drop offs.
Establish enrollment processes and procedures.
Train graduate students, student employees, and Federal Work Study Students.
Maintain sanitation and state regulations for drop in childcare.
Ensure compliance with all state agencies.

Curriculum:To demonstrate a sound knowledge of child growth and development and good practices for ages 1-8.
Serve as a model for students, volunteers, and practicing professionals who may visit Darden DOCC.
Collaborate and provide feedback to grant faculty and administration.
Support faculty participation in and utilization of the Darden DOCC.
The ability to apply knowledge of developmental levels to children’s activities and differentiate among those levels to meet individual child’s needs.
Other duties as assigned.
Leadership and Administration:Supervise graduate student, student employees, and interns.
Monitor payment system.
Order meals and snacks.
Monitor and order materials as needed.
Maintain positive relations with HDFS, ECU, and community partners.
Model highest quality care in Drop Off Child Care.
Provide information for internal and external communication

Minimum Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation:

None

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years’ full-time verifiable work experience in childcare facilities and early childhood education is preferred.The ability to work with a range of individuals with diverse abilities, be able to problem solve, have experience with developmentally appropriate interactions and instruction with young children is preferred. Familiarity with curriculum, state and national laws and standards of accreditation and licensure in the childcare field is preferred.
NC BK Licensure is preferred
