About us:

The Enterprise Applications and Solutions Integration (EASI) department within the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) Division is a central department responsible for all matters pertaining to the development, maintenance and effectiveness of the core administrative management and student systems at the U of T. Included within these responsibilities are all central SAP systems, such as Financial Services, Human Resources, Research Administration and Procurement; the central U of T Student System (ROSI); approximately 40 related vendor and specialized web applications, as well as central Business Intelligence and Document Management applications.

Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, Enterprise Applications & Solutions Integration or their designate, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative and innovative team focused on delivering transformational technology solutions to the University. Through your efforts in this position, you will directly help improve the University’s administrative management and student systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing, recommending, and designing highly complex software architecture
  • Designing, testing, and modifying programming code
  • Evaluating programming code to ensure it has validity, compatibility, and that it meets appropriate standards
  • Developing and overseeing new system elements
  • Developing technical application implementation plans
  • Defining requirements and scope of complex projects with broad impact and long-term consequences
  • Planning and implementing IT systems independently

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Eight years of experience or more in the following:
  • Development experience (Higher Education industry experience a plus) preferably utilizing Java, Spring, Angular, Web Services, etc.
  • Experience with various Software Development Life Cycle methods such as Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall, etc.
  • Designing and building technical solutions using Java technologies such as Spring, Spring Boot, Web Services, etc.
  • 5 years of combined experience using relational and NoSQL databases and writing basic queries (SQL, NoSQL and PL/SQL)
  • Experience in cloud computing (AZURE) and havean understanding with continuous delivery systems
  • Strong knowledge in design patterns and principles, experience in developing web services, REST APIs, and related architectures
  • Experience working with JavaScript, jQuery, JSON
  • Experienced with version control tools and advocating best practices with other team members
  • 3 plus years of experience using Angular versions, Node.js, node modules and npm
  • Strong Software Development skills
  • Proven ability to designand build technical solutions using applicable technologies; ability to demonstrate exceptional coding skills
  • Software tools applicable to technology being used (I.E., Java, IntelliJ, Git, Shell Script, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Technical Lead experience is desired
