Embedded Counselor, Peabody Conservatory
The Division of Student Health and Well-being (SHWB) and the Office of Student Affairs at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University seek an energetic, organized, and motivated individual to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment focused on student support and development. Reporting to the Associate Director for Outreach at the Homewood location of the SHWB mental health service and with a dotted-line supervision relationship with Director of Student Affairs at Peabody, the Embedded Counselor will focus on providing supportive services for Peabody graduate and undergraduate students. This staff member will provide direct and indirect clinical services, psychoeducational programming, outreach, and consultation at the Peabody Institute. The successful candidate will consult and work collaboratively with colleagues across Peabody to develop programs designed to serve Peabody musicians and dancers, and to reduce barriers to accessing counseling services. The Embedded Counselor will abide by the limits of confidentiality that apply to all SHWB clinical staff, and will participate in individual and group supervision and regular staff meetings at the Homewood counseling center, as well as participate in the after-hours on-call rotation that serves as back-up to ProtoCall. This role will also have a non-clinical supervisor on-site, the Director of Peabody Student Affairs, to ensure close collaboration with collaborators within the Peabody community. To best meet the needs of the Peabody population, this position will occasionally be expected to work outside of the CC hours of operation.

Located in the heart of Baltimore's Mount Vernon Cultural District, the Peabody Institute was founded in 1857 as America's first academy of music. Today, through its degree-granting Conservatory and its community-based Preparatory music and dance school, Peabody trains musicians and dancers of every age and at every level. Each year Peabody stages nearly 850 public concerts and performances. Peabody is one of the nine divisions that comprise the Johns Hopkins University.

The Counseling Center (CC) is a member of the Johns Hopkins University Student Health & Well-Being (SHWB) practice group which supports wellness, primary care, and mental health services for JHU students and learners across all nine schools within the university. In addition to the SHWB wellness office, our integrated service delivery model provides in-person primary and mental health care options at our clinics as well as remote support through phone and online resources.
