  • Teach courses for undergraduate students, with emphasis on Gerontology and Aging Studies courses.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to support the Gerontology and Aging Studies program, ensuring that industry standards are embedded in courses and that student learning outcomes (aligned to standards) are achieved.
  • Support student learning and development through academic rigor, coaching and mentoring efforts.
  • Provides prompt and meaningful feedback to students in a fair, objective, and consistent manner, using established rubrics and clear grading criteria.
  • Submits assignment and course grades by imparted timelines.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years successful academic experience at the university level.  
  • Proven ability to engage students in active learning to meet required course and program outcomes. 
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University’s commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.

Education and Experience:

  • CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS Doctorate in gerontology, aging studies or related field.
  • A minimum of a Master's degree in same.  
  • A minimum of 3-5 years industry experience in gerontology and aging studies, or a related field.

  • Proven ability to engage students in active learning to meet required course and program outcomes. 
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University’s commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
  • This faculty position requires a person with strong aging studies/gerontology practice and academic experience, leadership, and facilitation skills. In this position, teaching responsibilities are required within the program.
  •   Additional duties include: student advisement, leadership and service on departmental and institutional committees; and development of an active, externally funded research project which provides opportunities for undergraduate participation.
