AD-DSI is responsible for developing and implementing policies and programs that educate and engage the entire CMNS community (faculty, staff, students, alums, donors, and friends), enacting CMNS’ commitment to DEI. In addition, the AD-DSI will design and implement a sustainable model for these efforts and identify and pursue development opportunities with potential philanthropic, foundation, and corporate partners. The candidate will also coordinate and serve on the CMNS Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council, which includes faculty, staff, and students from across the college who plan DEI programs and activities.

The AD-DSI will also support the Dean with managing short and long-term priorities, initiatives, and activities related to strategic planning, DEI, current academic affairs, emerging issues in higher education, and engagement of various college and university constituencies and governance groups. In addition, the AD-DSI will be responsible for project management and management of strategic initiatives, including DEI, on behalf of the Dean.

The AD-DSI must be exceptionally well-organized and attentive to detail, be highly skilled at organizational effectiveness, and possess excellent communication skills. The AD-DSI should be proactive in identifying, developing, or refining programs and initiatives to achieve and maintain a positive and effective environment within the college. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and the ability to build a positive culture and relationships. The AD-DSI will perform sensitive and confidential duties requiring discretion, judgment, and sound decision-making skills.

The AD-DSI collaborates with units across CMNS to coordinate strategic planning, facilitate critical initiatives, and advance DEI in CMNS’ research and educational missions. In addition, AD-DSI fosters a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff; works closely with the Associate Deans for Research, Faculty Affairs, Graduate Education, and Undergraduate Education on outreach, recruitment, and retention programs for underrepresented student populations; works with the Assistant Dean for Development on philanthropic DEI opportunities; and assists as an equity officer on faculty and staff recruitment and retention.
