Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.Saint Vincent College invites applications for the James and Margaret Tseng Loe Chair of China Studies and Director of the Loe Center for China Studies. This is an open-rank, 3-year, renewable term position to begin August 2023.Required Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have an earned doctorate (field of study open) with a specialization in China studies that is compatible with the Loe Center goal of inspiring and promoting cross-cultural exchange and understanding between China and the United States. We seek a candidate who will be able to develop courses that contribute to their field of study, the Saint Vincent College core curriculum, and/or to some our interdisciplinary programs, including Peace and Justice Studies, International Business, Public Health, International Studies, or Global Engagement. Chinese language skills are a preferred qualification.Applicants should be nationally/internationally known in their fields and have an outstanding record of scholarship. Prior undergraduate teaching experience is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring.We seek a candidate who has the vision, connections, and capacity to renew and grow the LoeCenter for China Studies to enrich our students’ understanding of traditional Chinese culture and to foster cultural exchange activities.Essential Duties:
- Teach four courses (12 credits) per academic year with at least two related to China studiesConduct continued scholarship in area of studyDirect and develop programming for the Loe Center for China StudiesPlan an annual China studies conference, talk, or panel at Saint Vincent College Develop fellowship and/or exchange programs for Chinese and/or American faculty members and scholarship, fellowship, and/or exchange programs for Chinese and/or American students Manage and contribute to development for the Loe Center budget
