Job Overview

The post-doctoral fellow will be a part of a multidisciplinary team working on a cutting-edge NIH-funded project focused on identifying most promising targeted agents for the treatment of glioblastoma (GBM). Applicants must have significant experience in conducting pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) studies to facilitate the clinical translation of investigational agents for the treatment of GBM. The post-doctoral fellow will be expected to lead pre-clinical studies including mechanistic molecular studies, in vivo animal models (athymic nude mice and rats) for assessing systemic and brain penetration of drugs and anti-tumor efficacy studies. Additionally, the post-doctoral fellow will conduct correlative studies to facilitate clinical trials of identified drugs. Such studies will include biomarker and RNAseq analyses and in vitro/in vivo approaches for validating identified targets. Preference will be given to individuals with applicants with experience in pre-clinical imaging, bioanalysis of drugs in plasma and tissue samples (HPLC, LC/MS and ELISA) and PK/PD modeling and simulation.

Applicants must be energetic and collaborative and help with routine management of laboratory, including regulatory issues such as those required for animal and human studies, help doctoral students and other researchers. Candidates must be self-motivated and have a record of accomplishment. Strong organizational skills are necessary.

Essential Functions
  • Design, execute, and record laboratory experiments, and analyze the data.
  • Research and improve current methods and evaluate innovative techniques.
  • Implement this knowledge in the Division/Department.
  • Present research at laboratory meetings, journal clubs, seminars, and meetings.
  • Draft, write, and edit scientific reports, papers, journal articles, abstracts, and grants.
  • Set up and lead weekly lab meetings.
Required Education

Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree, or the equivalent foreign equivalent.

Required Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
  • May require experience with specialized software programs.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Required: Ph.D. in related discipline, MD, or equivalent degree.
  • At least 2-3 experience in conducting pre-clinical and translational research to facilitate the development of oncology drugs.
  • A record of high impact publications in cancer journals.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, strong organizational skills, supervisory ability, and an innovative approach to experimental design.
  • Proficient in the use of advanced softwares for PK/PD and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to synthesize information and to create and deal with new situations by applying past experiences.
  • Expressed willingness to teach others and share results.
  • Capable of meeting time demands necessary to execute experiments.
