The mission further extends to providing for meaningful, pleasant, and memorable dining experiences, including special theme meals dining events, in support of inclusivity and other civic values ofCNU, as well as that add to the quality of the cultural life of theCNUcommunity and the Commonwealth, as welcoming gathering places for students, faculty, staff and guests. In addition, Dining Services aspires to provide high levels of excellence and professionalism in rendering superior customer-focused services to students, faculty, staff, guests, and visitors of the University, with close attention to detail and with a caring and concerned approach, targeted at delivering outstanding results in serving customer needs and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.
This is a 9-month position paid over 12 months. Position is eligible for medical & dental insurance, retirement & life insurance benefits, and paid sick/personal leave. Position report dates are August 1 through April 30 of each year.
This position will ensure high level customer service and quality food production in one of the highest ranked college dining facilities in Virginia. Additionally, this position will assist with the management of four eateries. This is a “working manager, hands on” position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:Required:
Thorough knowledge in food preparation and quantity food production in retail operations
Understanding of scheduling, personnel management, health codes, food cost, retail sales and inventory management
Knowledge of recipes and costing products for retail sales
Ability to communicate in writing or verbally to both supervisors and subordinates
Ability to adjust to cyclic environment
Ability to be accurate despite repetitious detail work
Knowledge of all cooking methods and kitchen equipment
Knowledge of business related mathematics
Cash handling skills
Demonstrated skill in the use of personal computers and associated software
Ability to work under pressure of time restraints and deadlines
Ability to work nights and weekends
Preferred:
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Understanding of purchasing
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Required: Experience with creating schedules. Experience with health department inspections. Experience with tracking inventory. Experience with retail food sales. Considerable food service management experience. Experience working with the public. Experience with cash service.
Education Preferred: Business and/or word processing courses. ServSafe certificate.
Experience Preferred: Previous experience with purchasing. Previous experience working at a college/university in the food service industry. Previous experience with chain restaurants, such as Chick-fil-A.
