Job SummaryThe University of North Georgia Office of Professional and Continuing Education is seeking an experienced Handgun Training & Safety Instructor to facilitate noncredit courses for community members on our Cumming & Gainesville campuses. Each one-day course meets on select Saturdays throughout the semester. There are approximately 10 classes per year.
The Basic Handgun Safety & Training Instructor will assist in developing students' basic skills and knowledge of handgun safety. The Instructor will be responsible for providing training, instruction, and demonstration of weapon safety in the classroom and local range. The Basic Handgun Safety and Training Instructor must be certified in firearms/handguns, possess good verbal communication skills and have expertise in handgun safety. Instructor is responsible for developing course curriculum, supplemental materials and arranging class time at a shooting range in close proximity of each campus.
Responsibilities- Provides students the necessary tools needed to learn or enhance their skills in handgun safety.
- Assess students' skills, knowledge, and/or abilities pertaining to handgun safety.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good verbal communication skills and working knowledge of handgun safety.
- High School diploma or GED
- Must possess a certification in firearms/handguns.
- Experience instructing students in handgun safety and range knowledge preferred.
