Departmental Objective:The Freeman Center is the focal point for Christopher Newport University’s indoor sport, recreation and health and wellness services, along with providing a place for the University community to meet and for students to perform. The goal for this facility is to offer a quality “indoor” venue for athletic teams during Conference and NCAA competition, support the personal development and well-being of the members of the university community, and expand the reach of the University to the local, regional and national spotlight.
Purpose of the Position:To facilitate the work of the Freeman Center by providing administrative and program support to the Building Manager of the Freeman Center, employees of the Freeman Center and Director of Buildings Operations. Maintains Freeman Center accounts and is responsible for reviewing their disbursements and interpreting and applying state fiscal policies and regulations. Monitors budget and account status. Prepares purchase requisitions and makes purchases using eVA (electronic Virginia). Reviews invoices for correctness. Processes invoices for payment. Audits travel expense vouchers. Maintains petty cash, cash register and prepares expense reports for reimbursement. Ensures that all staff have necessary knowledge regarding state fiscal guidelines and procurement procedures. Manage time, attendance and supervises all Freeman Center student and hourly staff. Manages the student staff scheduling program for all Freeman student staff. Utilize the university-wide facility scheduling system to assist with knowledge of activities within the facilities managed by the Freeman Center and help schedule staff coverage as appropriate. Assists with the development of the facility operation schedules. Handle locker rentals, membership enrollment for the Health and Fitness Pavilion.

Strong computer skills
Working knowledge of databases
Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software
Ability to provide quality customer service, communicate effectively and exercise independent judgment
Bookkeeping and organizational skills
Ability to work quickly, accurately and work with confidential information
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
Experience with databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
Experience processing invoices.
Experience with purchase requisitions.
Experience with the supervision of employees
Experience Preferred:
Experience organizing reports.
Experience with implementation of programs or software for electronic devices.
Knowledge of EMS, VEMS, When to Work and conference programmer.
