Enhancing the health of individuals, families, populations, and communities is the over-riding mission and priority of the Department of Family Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. The department provides primary care education, discovery and clinical services to advance this mission.The department reflects and epitomizes Augusta University's well-known commitment to patient- and family-centered care and practice-based population management concepts. Its curricula, research and clinical practices are continually monitored and revised as needed to insure substantial relevance to the healthcare challenges faced in a rapidly changing environment. Objective feedback attests to the success of this approach, including the National Committee for Quality Assurance's recognition of the department's faculty/resident practice as a Patient-Centered Medical Home.

TheMedical College of Georgiais one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta,regional clinical campusesfor third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education tomore than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council forGraduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary
Ensure administrative support for the Department of Family Medicine with some latitude for exercising judgment and discretion. Provide technical guidance and direction, distribute workload as necessary, and coordinate special projects and functions. Provide all aspects of administrative support to the manager, faculty members, residents and students. Other areas include, but not limited to, p-card logs (if applicable), database/record maintenance, travel arrangements, Excel reports and PowerPoint presentations. Assistance may also be given in the area of classroom preparation and administrative support.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Oversight of Orientation and lnprocessing of all new residents and interns assigned to the Department of Family Medicine's Residency Program.
Arranges and coordinates monthly Orientation to include scheduling all pertinent persons to speak to new residents on required topics, certificationsystems, training, and paperwork.
Group presentation with residents regarding all policies and procedures (lecture attendance, moonlighting, patient follow-up, procedure documentation, elective month policy, sick call, vacation, and resident evaluations and disciplinary procedures. etc.)Coordinate incoming residents and existing residents to take ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS, NALS certifications.Corresponds with incoming residents prior to arrival to assure smooth transition into the residency programi.e., beepers/pagers, name tags, lab coats, scrubs, books, schedules, business cards etc.
Provide information and answers questions to ensure residents will feel positive about their training site.Ensure collection of all necessary paperwork, forms etc. for inprocessing of residents for required start date of Department of Family Medicine's Residency Program.

Coordinate Educational Curriculum for all residents assigned to the Department of Family Medicine's Residency Program.
Collaboration with all other/residency Programs at other Institutions, as well as Augusta University/MCG for rotation educational tools such as Program Letters of Agreement (PLA's), System's Enrollment/Training and Offsite/lnstitutional paperwork for rotation requirements.Collaborate with other programs in order to obtain goals/objectives for each rotation and participating site.Serve as liaison for information exchange between Family Medicine Program and other Residency Programs such as University Hospital, VA, Dekalb Medical Center, and other offslte rotational sites.Coordinate any department-wide efforts required by working closely with other Program Directors/Section Chiefs and their support staff on weekly/monthly/yearly lectures, noon conferences, REC's, Journal Clubs,M & M, Grand Rounds, etc).Attend monthly GME Committee meeting with or in the absence of the Residency Director.Attend monthly program coordinators meeting and report pertinent Information back to the Residency Director.Scheduling of important educational requirements such as; ALSO, OSCE's, Step3/COMLEX and Boards for all residents.Maintain updated curriculum listing for residency program on educational sites and rotatons.Tracking and scheduling of resident Scholarly Acitvities and Quality Improvement outcomes (QI).Other educational reports as necessary.

Clinical Experience and Educational Hours
Tracking vacation, sick leave, moonlighting, extra duty, FMLA, conference and all other educational hours for ail residents.Prepare summarized and organized data for reporting each month to GME office for all residents.Organize and complete follow through on Moonlighting paperwork for all residents.Organize and complete follow through on Extra Duty (in-house) paperwork for all residents.

Oversight of Resident tasked Activities
Processing of resident loan deferment forms.Assist Program Coordinator at Rural Program (Waycross) in activities as needed.Supports Program Director and associates by independently performing administrative functions.Exercise considerable judgement and initiative in monitoring activities of the Residents and directly report activities to the Residency Director.
ACGME, RRC and AOA Program Requirements.Remain knowledgeable of ACGME, AOA and RRC Program Requirements for Family Medicine.Maintain program files at a level that meets or exceeds required ACGME, AOA and RRC standards.Prepare summarize and organize data in a format ready for analysis and decision-making by the Program Director.
General Management.Administrative support to the faculty and residents as residency section.Assist in departmental residency program growth and operations by understanding and executing coordination of cross-functional stakeholders represented by clinic operations, educations, and research aroups.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year educational program or similar experience.ORAssociatedegree from an accredited college or university and 4 years professional or Administrative experience to include minimum of 2 years of educational program experience or similar experience.ORHigh school diploma and 7 years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of 4 years of educational program experience or similar experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor Degree In Business Administration or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Six years of administrative experience in a progressively responsible position in a hospital/academic setting with directly related resident support.
Experience to monitor residency budget and produce reports as requested.
Augusta University policies, in-depth computer experience to design and maintain residency database tables, queries and reports.
Computer language skills required: Access (database management) (ability to design and maintain database), Word, Excel, Power Point, and the Electronic Residency Application Service database (ERAS).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality.Organizational and communication skills.Knowledgeable in MS Office and good telephone etiquette.Ability to learn PeopleSoft, multi-task and work independently.Excellent customer service and time management skills.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift:Days; Monday - Friday
Pay Grade: 13
Salary: Minimum $16.19/hour - Midpoint $21.85/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
