Organizational Unit Overview:

It is the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine, to provide exemplary medical education/training of physicians in pediatric medicine at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, it is the mission of the department to provide model comprehensive primary and consultative subspecialty care to children of eastern North Carolina, to advance scientific knowledge through basic and clinical research, and to provide continuing medical education opportunities for physicians in the region.

Job Duties :

The Department of Pediatrics at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC is seeking an academic general pediatrician to serve as a newborn hospitalist. The academic general pediatrician would primarily be responsible for providing medical services to infants on the mother/baby unit and attending high risk deliveries that are not expected to result in a NICU admission at East Carolina Health Medical Center. Opportunities will also be available to provide care on the inpatient general pediatric ward. The academic general pediatrician will provide excellent medical education for residents, medical students, nursing students, and other learners.

Opportunity is available for either clinical track or tenure track at the rank/title of Assistant Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Professor, and/or Clinical Professor.

Minimum Education/Experience :

MD or DO degree, unrestricted North Carolina Medical License, Board Certified or Board eligible to sit for the ABP general pediatrics examination, NRP/PALS certification and recent delivery experience. The minimum education/experience requirements are the same for both a fixed-term or tenure-track position.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

North Carolina Medical License and Board Certification/Eligibility in Pediatrics.
