Day Shift; 8:00am - 4:30pm

Exempt; Pay Grade: 40

Position Summary:

The Clinical Dietitian Specialist I works with the health care team and provides medical nutrition therapy both in the inpatient and outpatient settings; assesses patients' nutrition risk, nutritional needs, and recommends appropriate nutrition intervention; provides nutrition education to patients and their families and documents patient's progress in the medical record; works with Nutrition Services department to ensure patients are receiving appropriate foods for the diet order; and precepts and coordinates learning experiences for dietetic interns.

Education:

Completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Licensure/Certification:

Requires registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Must be a Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist within the State of Maryland or be eligible to apply for licensure prior to hire.

Required Work Experience:

Entry-level will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Work requires the analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems or design relatively complex systems and programs that cross department/divisional lines.

Work requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations. Work requires the ability to counsel and educate patients. Work requires the ability to teach students.
