Career and Outcomes Data Manager
Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is seeking a data driven individual with highly developed reporting and visualization skills for our new Corporate and Strategic Partnerships department.

We are seeking a Career and Outcomes Data Manager who will develop and improve systems, processes, reports, and tools that will help the Corporate and Strategic Partnership (C&SP) Office effectively collect and measure performance, make data driven business decisions, and manage the data collection of employment outcomes for students in all degree programs of the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. They will manage the data collection of employment outcomes for students in all degree programs of the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. These employment outcomes are a key performance metric for the school and therefore obtaining and monitoring completion and integrity of the data is a critical function. The Manager will actively create and execute a strategy for all data collection within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, research monitoring, and tracking of post-graduate career outcomes for all degree programs. The successful incumbent will need to have flexibility to work evening hours periodically in order to conduct research follow-up calls during hours when students/alumni are most likely to be available.

The manager will also be responsible for metrics reporting to be used for production of career outcome publications and summaries for the Assistant Dean Corporate and Strategic Partnerships and other school leaders.

The position will work closely with the staff of the Career & Life Design Office (C&LD) and other Student Experience colleagues to become familiar with the student population and with the Office of Institutional Data & Analytics for complex data analyses that require additional interpretation.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Employment Outcomes & Business Development Data Collection, Interpretation and Visualization
  • Launch and manage the graduate outcomes survey to each graduating MBA and MS class as well as to alumni, on a defined schedule aligning with varying graduation dates.
  • Ensure timely launch and regular touchpoints to encourage an optimum response rate.
  • Follow-up with graduates via in-person contact, telephone conversations, email, social media avenues, and other tracking databases to track all career outcomes progress.
  • Prepare information for frequent full-time MBA review meetings with C&LD and C&SP staff to provide support and transparency for staff regarding full-time MBA student employment data.
  • Record career outcomes communication and relevant information in CRM for audit purposes.
  • Interpret data to identify positive and negative trends and synthesize information to inform micro level approaches to student intervention, prior to data collection closing to ensure optimum response rate results.
  • Regularly obtain and track items such as educational/career milestones, employment verification, and other key data points via electronic databases.
  • Develop and maintain a process manual for Corporate and Strategic Partnerships to ensure necessary procedures are documented for data quality control related to employment outcomes.
  • Create reports and presentations to communicate impact of C&SP employer development, engagement and impact, using reports and data from CRM, that presents complex information in an understandable and compelling manner for reporting and presentations.


Communication & School Collaboration

  • Educate and work closely with school staff both domestically and globally to ensure that any job status information communicated by a student is tracked in the survey and/or in CDO Handshake database.
  • Maintain ongoing collaboration with key school partners (Admissions, Development and Alumni Relations, Academic Administration, Office of International Services, Office of Institutional Data & Analytics, Records and Registration, Student Experience and Experiential Learning) to support a culture of data sharing and students reporting career outcomes as a requirement.
  • Partner with the Central JHU Integrated Learning and Life Design Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst, JHIT Enterprise Business Solutions team and Data Warehouse to coordinate university support towards outcome collection, evaluation and promotion.
  • Work closely with the Global Collaboration Team based internationally to align efforts and use resources to improve data collection efforts with alumni who return to their home country post-graduation.
  • Work closely with the Office of International Services to ensure quarterly OPT data reports are integrated into career outcomes data.
  • Interface with the Office of Institutional Data & Analytics on all data collection, reporting functions, and documentation efforts to ensure timely, consistent, and accurate data collection and reporting occurs year-round.

  • Strong working knowledge of all Carey divisions and programs or ability to quickly learn.
  • Strong working knowledge of admissions, registration, student accounts, and graduation procedures.

  • Ability to be creative and use social media and other systems to track employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders with vested interest in sensitive data.
  • Ability to work well autonomously, be self-directed, and manage workload independently.

  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player; adaptable to shifting priorities while maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data for informed decision-making.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods with the ability to analyze data succinctly and translate into actionable plans.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer programs and accessing internet applications: Student Information Systems, Salesforce/other electronic tracking databases, Survey tools (e.g. Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, etc.), Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Google applications, and Internet Explorer.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five years' experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $61,070-$83,900 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
