The University of Florida School of Landscape Architecture & Planning (SLA&P), home to the Departments of Landscape Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning, invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Instructional Assistant Professor/Lecturer position with primary responsibilities dedicated to teaching and service. With a home in Landscape Architecture, the successful candidate will contribute to SLA&P's mission including advancing the ethical, creative, and skillful application of the arts and sciences in planning, designing, and managing built and natural environments and provide professional and public services to communities throughout Florida, the nation, and the world. This position is a full-time, three-year renewable (non-tenure track) role with a strong instructional focus.

The Department seeks an innovative candidate with a passion for creative pedagogy and student-centric learning, as well as a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. Candidates should have instructional experience and a record of service. Candidates should be capable of teaching broadly in our undergraduate and graduate core curricula with preference given to expertise in design communications, 3-D visualization, as well as spatial and design thinking. The candidate should be able to work collaboratively across disciplines and demonstrate a passion for working with students.

The teaching assignment each semester is anticipated to be a minimum of three, 3-credit hour lecture courses or the equivalent (approximately 0.75 FTE total). Additionally, the individual may serve on graduate committees. The individual will be expected to contribute to the governance of the Landscape Architecture Department, the School, and the College through active participation in regular faculty, committee, and academic planning meetings, as well as special events.

The Department of Landscape Architecture offers the State of Florida's only accredited Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) degree and offers a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) degree. In addition, the College of Design, Construction and Planning (DCP) offers a Ph.D. in Design with a landscape architecture concentration. DCP also offers programs in Architecture, Construction Management, Interior Design, Historic Preservation, and Sustainability and the Built Environment (SBE).

Minimum Requirements:
  • Terminal degree from an accredited institution or other internationally recognized accrediting body in landscape architecture.
  • Teaching experience including undergraduate and graduate studios and lectures
  • Evidence of student-centered approach to teaching and learning
  • Experience in a significant area(s) of expertise


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in areas of design communication, 3-D visualization, and spatial and design thinking
  • Professional licensure
  • Participation in academic or professional associations
