Position Summary:

The Facilities Services Assistant Manager position is responsible for managing all details of the existing facility, as well as field support of the education and research program. The position requires mechanical and carpentry training in order to perform minor repairs to buildings, plumbing, electrical and AC/heating. The incumbent must also be capable of performing ongoing maintenance, minor engine repair and retrieval of stuck/broke equipment from field. The management responsibilities include experience with purchasing, including estimates, material lists and preparation and requisitions for materials and services. Maintenance responsibilities include pressure washing, painting, carpentry, grounds maintenance, lawn care, and vehicle and small boat maintenance, as well as supervision of support staff and vendors.

The position is responsible to provide on-site supervision of the Riverwoods Field Lab facility. Incumbent must be self-motivated and work well as a team member. CES provides required driving, boat safety and First Aid/CPR training in order to operate state vehicles and boats.

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Facilities Services Assistant Manager at Riverwoods Field Lab. - Lorida, FL.

Summary of responsibilities include:

Residential maintenance requirements

  • Conduct facility repairs or contact a vendor to do the repairs when necessary including but not limited to electric, plumbing, roofing, A/C and carpentry troubleshooting & repair experience in order to repair 4 houses that are converted into an office, wet lab, conference center/classroom and overnight facilities.

  • Schedule routine facilities inspections and equipment servicing.

  • Keep records of safety inspections, health inspections, and fire Marshall inspections.

Grounds maintenance requirements

  • Responsible for the lawn mowing and care of the Riverwoods Field Lab.

  • Maintain all tree cutting and trimming of the facility.

  • Cleans and assist with upkeep of the facility by pressure washing or painting the facility.

Field maintenance and support includes:

  • Inspecting the facility equipment for safety (vessels, vehicles, UTV’s, mowers, generators).

  • Ability to repair small engines, boat engines, and field equipment.

  • Ability to trailer and drive a pontoon, small boats, or UTV’s.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in residential repairs, boats and small engines repair & maintenance, woodworking, and plumbing required.

Proficiency in Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook) required.

Must be able to lift 60 lbs.

Successful candidate must pass a level 2 background check.

Successful candidate will be required to enroll in Maritime Consortium’s Drug Free Vessel program. (http://drugfreevessel.com/).

The position requires living onsite at the Riverwoods Field Lab location (10 Riverwoods Circle, Lorida, FL 33857).

Salary:

$17.30 - $21.65 per hour.
