Position Summary

Dominican University invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer faculty position within the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program.  The Visiting Lecturer is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position to begin August 15, 2023.

 

The successful candidate will become a vital member of the faculty team committed to excellence and innovation in teaching, scholarship, and service while upholding the mission and values of Dominican University.  The candidate, reporting to the Executive Director, is expected to teach twenty-four (24) credit hours per academic year.  Additionally, as a Lecturer, along with teaching responsibilities and scholarship, service responsibilities can include participation on department, college, and university level committees as well as in discipline specific organizations and community service.

Job Components

  1. Provides exemplary instruction in the didactic, simulation lab and clinical areas of teaching.
  2. Assists with curriculum development, implementation and systematic evaluation planning.
  3. Participates in recruitment, retention, and successful progression of students within program.
  4. Assists with developing and implementing admission, progression, and graduation policies.
  5. Participate in mentoring, advising and registering students for nursing courses.
  6. Partners with the Director of Simulation to develop, implement, and evaluate clinical scenarios within the simulation laboratory environment to optimize student learning outcomes
  7. Collaborates with the Clinical Placement Manager for appropriate and optimal student placement.
  8. Commits to working with diverse student and community populations and building a culturally diverse educational environment

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of three years of college/university teaching experience OR a minimum of five years of clinical teaching experience.
  • A Master’s degree with approved board certifications, certification exams, or approved fellowships.
  • Unencumbered State of Illinois Professional Registered Nurse license.
  • A written plan outlining the proposed scholarship program that will be pursued.
  • At least three years of current nursing practice experience.
  • Background in women’s health (obstetrics/labor and delivery), psychiatric mental health, and/or medical-surgical nursing.

Preferred

  • Evidence of undergraduate teaching experience.
