Data Center TechnicianThe University of TennesseeOffice of Information TechnologyThe Office of Information Technology is seeking to fill a regular part-time position (30 hours/week) on the Data Center service team. Candidates must possess good oral/written communication skills and have the ability to work well in a team environment.This position is evenings/weekends with the following normal shift hours:
- Monday, 4:00pm - 10:00pmSaturday, 12 noon - 12 midnightSunday, 12 noon - 12 midnight
Qualifications
Duties and responsibilities include:- Monitor and control electronic computer and peripheral data processing equipment in a complex client/server environment- First level of support in monitoring for environmental and system hardware/software/network problems with appropriate escalation to second level of support when necessary- Answer Help Desk calls and provide assistance/initiate creation of trouble tickets as appropriate- Participate in training activities of junior staff- Work independently and make decisions on how to solve problems needing immediate solutions- Interface and serve as a resource for University IT support personnel inside and outside of OITEducation: Associate degree in a related field or equivalent related experienceExperience: Three years of related experience.
