Responsibilities and Duties
Collaborates with other campus wellness staff members to coordinate a broad range of health and wellness education focused on the needs of students. Manages the Health Center’s Health Education and Promotion program including setting priorities and goals. Organizes and maintains Health Education budget, and allocates resources where appropriate. Recruits, supervises and trains the health education coordinator(s), student interns, peer educators and graduate assistants in providing health and wellness education to students across campus. Provides direct delivery of Health and Well-Being Coaching to Towson University students. In collaboration with the Director of the Health Center, coordinates the Healthy Campus Taskforce. In collaboration with the Health Center clinical staff, provides clinical health education services when appropriate. Pursues external sources of funding when appropriate to support health promotion, education and prevention activities. Serves as a member of Health Center Leadership Team.

 

Coordinates and develops marketing initiatives for all Health Center services and events. Oversees the development and implementation of marketing and awareness campaigns to promote the Health Center, prevent unhealthy behaviors and foster a healthy campus climate. Manages and updates Health Center webpage and Health Education social media accounts. Ensures patient education materials and resources are updated, inclusive and appropriate for providers and patients. Identifies and implements national college health initiatives such as GYT, It’s on Us, and others.


Develops strategic plan and priorities for Heath Education in collaboration with the Operations Director and Medical Director. Plans, implements and evaluates evidence-based, best practice health promotion services (including health and well-being coaching, nutrition, physical activity, lifestyle interventions, etc.) programs and activities to meet the needs of Towson University’s diverse student population. Uses an ecological, collaborative approach to health promotion as described in the ACHA ‘s Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education. Assists in the pursuit of AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare) certification. Serves as the Health Center’s assessment representative, and incorporates evaluation and assessment methods, including student learning outcomes, into all programming activities. Works collaboratively with Health Center and Counseling Center staff, other Student Affairs staff, Title IX Office, and other campus departments and community agencies in the coordination, planning and implementation of programs and events. In coordination with the Office of Inclusion and Equity, ensure a robust series of programs and trainings on sexual misconduct and other Title IX topics, designed to meet the needs of the student community. Collaborates with other departments to assist in the administration and implementation of the NCHA survey. Analyzes and bench-marks data from these and other recognized sources to identify and prioritize health issues and allocate resources. Serves on and chairs various committees as assigned.



Qualifications and Skills
Required:

  • Master's Degree in Health Education/Health Promotion
  • Three years of related experience
  • Knowledge of current and emerging college health issues, standards and trends
  • Ability to conduct needs assessments and health risk surveys and analyze/interpret data to prioritize activities
  • Ability to use theories and models of health promotion and behavioral change, particularly as applies to young adults
  • Experienced in the design, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based, cost-effective, best practice health promotion programs
  • Organization skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking
  • Ability to work as a team member and supervisor.
Preferred:

  • Registered dietitian (RD) or Registered dietitian nutritionist credentials or completed coursework
  • Health and Well-Being Coaching certification
  • ACSM or ACE group exercise instructor certification
