Primary Purpose: Provides administrative and departmental assistance to support the operational needs of the law school’s financial aid program. Serves as a VA School Certifying Official and processes VA benefits for veterans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer general financial aid inquiries from prospective and continuing students via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Provide general guidance to students on the student aid application process, requirements for eligibility, the process for change in financial circumstances, rights and responsibilities regarding student aid, academic progress requirements and procedures for appealing, and other information related to maintaining student scholarships and loans.
  • Manage financial aid utility email account. Respond to email in timely manner.
  • Coordinate and process Florida Bright Futures Scholarships.
  • Coordinate Federal Work Study process. Guide students and hiring managers through FWS process.
  • Coordinate and process all Consortium Agreements with other schools.
  • Scan and upload all financial aid documentation to Banner.
  • Assist with posting merit, need-based, endowed, and outside scholarships.
  • Assist with writing, editing, and updating web content, policies and procedures, and correspondences with students.
  • Assist in maintaining endowed scholarship user agreements. Assist in tracking and updating endowed scholarship information.
  • Run mail merges and mass mailings.
  • Research cost information (housing, etc.) and make recommendations for annual law student Cost of Attendance budgets.
  • Maintain master calendar for Student Financial Planning processes.
  • Serve as VA School Certifying Official; certify VA benefits, using VA Once and other software; process other military benefits such as Army tuition assistance.
  • Collaborate with the Registrar Office VA School Certifying Official to meet VA requirements and respond to report requests.
  • Work closely with other offices, including the Business Office, Registrar Office, and Development Office.
  • Maintain a collaborative work environment and work well with others.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned by Assistant Dean for Enrollment.


Required Skills

AA degree and experience working within a college or university setting required. Qualified experience may be used in lieu of degree requirement. Willingness and ability to learn new processes and adapt to training. Ability to read, comprehend, and comply with federal and state laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the provision of student financial aid. Requires the ability to analyze situations and accurately recommend or adopt an effective course of action; ability to communicate effectively and positively with diverse populations of students, staff, and the public using tact and courtesy in sometimes confrontational or difficult situations. Strong attention to detail, high level of accuracy, and excellent follow through; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to plan, organize and prioritize work to meet schedules and deadlines. Skilled multi-tasker with the ability to change priorities amongst multiple competing constituencies, projects and resources. Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team, and to work collaboratively with other departments. Ability to listen to the needs of the students and staff and to understand and respond to their requests in a timely manner. Ability to work without close supervision. Ability to work a flexible work schedule, with occasional nights and weekends, required. Works to build an environment that promotes and facilitates the success of Diversity and Inclusion. May not sit on boards or councils for lenders.
