Job Duties :The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine seeks a Licensed Clinical Social Work Practitioner with experience to work in its Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: provide individual, family, marital and group psychotherapy, evaluation and assessment of patients’ mental status, behavioral and social circumstances, family dynamics and resources; biopsychosocial formulation and DSM diagnosis; emergency treatment, early appointment or routine appointment; perform emergency and crisis intervention for immediate emergency or walk-in patients. Make referrals to other treatment programs when clinically appropriate. The position also participates in the teaching and clinical supervision of medical students, psychiatry residents, and other health professional trainees.

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as it’s teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.
Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services discipline with coursework related to the area of assignment. Some positions may require certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation:Certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:Masters degree in Social Work with coursework related to the area of assignment. Position requires licensure to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board. Specifically, LCSW required.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board.
