(Contingent upon available funding): 17.50 - 19.65, Hourly Work Schedule: Typically 5 days/week, 8 hours/day Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: The Research Assistant will generally oversee the smooth running of the laboratory. They will monitor and update standard operating procedures (OPT) and biosafety protocols. They will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) with the orientation of new lab personnel, safety compliance, and chemical and consumable inventory management. Additionally, they will assist trainees in producing and purifying recombinant proteins, developing enzyme assays, and performing experiments as delegated by the PI. Environmental Hazards:
Riskto exposure to strong acids/bases.Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger,grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or withoutreasonable accommodations.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- At least one (1) year of experience in a biochemistry research laboratory
Skills, Proficiencies and Knowledge:
- Taken fundamental courses in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
- Knowledgeable in DNA recombinant technology, recombinant protein expression and purification
- Familiarity with BSL-2 lab safety
- Mammalian cell culture techniques
- Bacterial protein expression,
- Familiarity with research compliance and laboratory safety programs
