Position Summary:

The primary purpose of the Office of Admission and Financial Aid is to provide financial assistance to students and help remove the financial barriers in obtaining an education. It is the University’s goal to help each student attend UNC Asheville if that is his or her wish regardless of financial difficulties. Providing information and guidance to interested groups and individuals allows these people to successfully complete the Financial Aid process. This Financial Aid Counselor position will use a high level of professionalism, knowledge, and problem-solving which supports the office by helping to manage federal or state financial aid programs coordinating all activity, reporting, and reconciliation of the assigned program (i.e., Federal Work-Study, NC State Grants, Federal Direct Loans, Federal Grants, Default Management) and performs other duties as required to meet organizational needs.

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills:

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree. Experience with Banner Financial Aid s preferred. Demonstrated excellence in communication (written and verbal), listening, and problem-solving.

Work Schedule and Hours:

Typical hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Occasional time on evenings and weekends may be needed to meet the needs of the department.
