The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for leading a comprehensive annual giving program. This includes mass solicitation for the purpose of donor acquisition; and donor retention of alumni, parents, staff, faculty, and friends. This role will be a lead strategist and management role for direct mail, digital giving, and other annual giving initiatives for Stetson University, as well as grow the donor pipeline and cultivate leadership donors. The Director reports to the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, and will supervise an Associate Director, Coordinator, and a Coordinator of Student Philanthropy. This position may also assist the Annual Fund staff at the College of Law in Gulfport, on a case-by-case basis.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Manage and coordinate the strategy and priorities of the Annual Giving office, including all mass solicitation campaigns, staff, and budget. Provide leadership for all direct mail, email, Stetson Giving Challenge, texting, social media giving campaigns, and crowdfunding intiatives to achieve fundraising goals. Evaluate all solicitation efforts and donor behavior to adjust solicitation strategy for improved ROI, donor retention, and donor conversion. Partner with Development Marketing and Alumni Engagement to create an annual solicitation calendar that has a consistent brand, with the goal of acquiring new donors and upgrading annual giving donors Collaborate with the Executive Director to create an annual plan regarding solicitation, budget, goals, and establish desired outcomes. At the direction of the Vice President or Executive Director, collaborate with the Development team at the College of Law. Plans and oversees a campus-wide annual giving challenge, using all members of the Annual Giving team. Identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of leadership annual giving prospects to create and grow a pipeline of major gift donors Collaborates with Donor Relations on annual giving stewardship. Partners with the Director of Alumni Relations on fundraising initiatives from alumni of Stetson, and special projects like Senior Week, Commencement, and Homecoming. Partners with the Director of Alumni Engagement on providing staff direction for social media content that features giving campaigns and alumni donor spotlights. Evaluate and, when applicable, execute new activities using new technology, advanced customization for specific audiences, and enhanced digital strategies Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned

ROUTINE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Work with the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving and the Vice President to develop strategic plans to advance the university’s fundraising efforts Keeps current with best practices and new and emerging technology Enters information and updates to the database Requires occasional work outside regular office hours

Required Skills

Required ExperienceBachelor’s degree required Two to four years of fundraising and/or marketing, and management experience

Salary Grade: 9

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.
