Job Description:

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position (Assistant Professor) in its Air Resource Program. The position will be housed in the Department of Environmental Engineering Science within the Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment at the University of Florida.

Applicants should have an earned doctorate in Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. The appointment is expected to be at the Assistant Professor level. The new faculty member will be expected to actively pursue sponsored research in the broad area of air quality such as atmospheric sciences, instrumentation, field studies, health effects, climate change, air quality modeling, particulate matter control, and atmospheric dynamics. The successful candidate should have a strong record or potential for interdisciplinary research and successful collaborative investigations in relevant disciplines, as demonstrated in their record of peer-reviewed publications and proposal development. He/she is anticipated to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses. ESSIE is committed to establishing a world-class air resources program and expects the new member to become a leader in the field. Interdisciplinary research across units (e.g., transportation, ocean/atmosphere, and health) and active collaborations with other faculty and research partners are strongly encouraged and supported.

The Malachowsky Hall for Data Science & Information Technology, a 260,000 sq feet facility that will serve as the hub for Artificial Intelligence, will open in Spring 2023. Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D in Engineering or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate in Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
