About the Position:

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Full-time Graduate Admissions, the Associate Director will manage relationships with prospective students from application to enrollment for SMU Cox's Management, Business Analytics, Finance and Accounting Specialized Master's programs.

The position will partner with the Full-time Graduate Admission and Marketing teams to develop and deliver MS program information and value propositions through print or on-line media and in-person interactions.

The position will also counsel prospective students on admissions process, direct application completion, and coordinate candidate evaluation process.

The person in this role will collaborate with faculty Program Directors and office of Enrollment and Engagement to support yield and on-boarding processes for MS admits.

Essential Functions:

    Application Review: Evaluate admission applications for program fit and alignment with Cox School academic and enrollment goals. Record accurate notes and relevant data in the CRM system. Serve on the MS admission committee, making and supporting admission decisions during committee meetings.

    Interview applicants for admission. Support a process in our CRM for scheduling admission interviews both on-campus and virtually. Schedule and complete interviews in a timely manner. Record interview evaluation and bring relevant notes to discuss in admission committee meetings.

    Communicate (email, phone and/or Zoom) directly with prospective students, applicants, and admitted students about program information and the admission process. Assist candidates with finding their best program fit. Encourage admitted students to attend the Cox School. Host one-on-one phone or Zoom meetings to facilitate connections. Record candidate interactions in the CRM.

    Plan and execute events which include, but are not limited to, information sessions, webinars, yield events, and semi-annual preview days. Organize class visits, host presentations, coffee chats, and travel to off-campus events (possible globally) to recruit and engage candidates. Serve as a representative for the Cox School of Business, representing both the MS and MBA program portfolios.

    Develop marketing content for presentations, website, and promotional materials.  Partner with marketing team and Assistant Dean to refine target markets and student profiles. Support marketing team by updating program and admission information. Execute email marketing in the CRM to promote events, increase program interest and drive applications.

    Support internal team operations which could include updating documentation, checking admission data, participating in event and travel planning meetings, professional development (including conference participation), and process improvement projects across the Cox Graduate Admissions team.

    Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of the Full-time Graduate Admissions team providing assistance SMU Cox initiatives and events. Support ad-hoc projects or tasks and perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree is required. Master's preferred.

A minimum of three years of work experience is required. Experience in student/customer-facing roles is strongly preferred. Experience in student advising and/or admissions experience desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to forge strong working relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in writing. Strong presentation skills are essential.

Candidate must have strong time management, organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a deadline driven environment. Strong project management skills and attention to detail are essential.

Candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Must also be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Candidate must have a strong commitment to confidentiality, as this position will be required to handle confidential and sensitive information. Experience and demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of individuals are essential.

Candidate must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with admissions software (e.g. Slate) is strongly preferred. Experience with PeopleSoft is a plus.

Knowledge of international student visa process (e.g. F-1 visa) preferred.
