Job Summary:

The full-time Instructor of Speech/Communication will teach 15 SCH per fall and spring semester. This faculty position will report to the Chair for General Education and Developmental Studies. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and/or online classes. Locations may include on-campus, online, and dual credit. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Master’s degree in Speech or Communication, or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours of Speech or Communication courses related to courses taught on campus.

Ability to deal with students, faculty, and staff members in a professional manner. Ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, speak, listen, and see. The employee is occasionally required to sit, lift, push, pull and carry objects.

Working conditions: Normal classroom setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of teaching experience at a two-year college or university is preferred.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience, 9-month contract On-tenure Track; Plus Excellent Benefits.

Work Hours:

Dependent upon class schedule. Courses may be scheduled during the day or evening.

Lamar State College - Port Arthur, a member of The Texas State University System, is an open-access, comprehensive public two-year college offering quality and affordable instruction leading to associate degrees and a variety of certificates.
