Irrigation Technician

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Irrigation Technician in the Grounds Department.
Duties include, but are not limited to:· Replace or perform repairs to broken sprinkler head valves, 1/2" to 6" pipes and all other irrigation related equipment;· Plan, coordinate, and install additional irrigation systems or modifications of existing systems;· Responsible for inspecting, servicing, maintaining and repairing automatic sprinkler systems;· Interpret irrigation plans and repair/maintain existing irrigation systems in accordance with plans;· Maintain preventive maintenance schedule for all irrigation systems;· Use proper equipment to clear blockages from valves and pipes;· Assist with revising irrigation plans to indicate location of pipes, valves and sprinkler heads;· Maintain necessary supplies to perform work on irrigation systems;· Act as University liaison on irrigation projects;· Assist with maintaining grounds campus-wide; and· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and general knowledge of the various types of sprinkler control devices and irrigation equipment available is required. Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or modification of irrigation equipment is required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Trades Specialist III (KC30/61122474/FTE-S00681P), full-time position with benefits. SC State SC State Pay Band: 04. Salary minimum $29,061.00, midpoint $41,415.00. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Must be available for emergency work when called upon. Weekend work may be required.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent.Must have general knowledge of the various types of sprinkler control devices and irrigation equipment available. Three (3) years experience required in the maintenance, repair, or modification of irrigation equipment.

Required Licensure and/or Certification:

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must have ability to repair and maintain existing irrigation systems, and properly operate grounds equipment (tractors, trenchers, etc.) as needed to perform tasks. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to interpret existing irrigation plans,and for future University irrigation projects. Ability to effectively manage and supervise personnel.
