Employment Specialists are skilled employment centered professionals responsible for providing varied services in support of an assigned program(s). The ultimate goal is to provide training and employment support to participants of various backgrounds and skill levels to obtain economic self-sufficiency. Employment Specialists are required to be generalists in their professional practice while being assigned to an area of specialization within an employment program. Specialization may include training clients in workforce skills, job development, job referrals, job placement, work success support, preparing students to enter education and training programs, education support and ongoing work success.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of emerging work skills, training, employment trends and work environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in career guidance and coaching, strengths-based, person centered, and trauma informed approaches in coaching and case management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business and industry, and current labor market trends and ability to translate into effective services.
  • Successful experience facilitating workshops and classes using effective training techniques and adult-learning theory.
  • Ability to maintain records and develop accurate reports for funding agencies in a timely manner.
  • Considerable knowledge and demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity and inclusion with an ongoing commitment to professional development in this area.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Social Science, Communications, or related field. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.Demonstrated experience working with college students, clients who have barriers in achieving self sufficiency, developmentally or physically disabled adults, or at-risk populations. Demonstrated experience within area of specialization of position applied for. Experience in case management in a social service or educational setting. Fluency in a second language may be required depending on position.

Position Grade3Starting Salary Expectations0 $52,961.00 to $56,735.00 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.Position Grade Salary Range$52961 to $91834 Annual SalaryFTE1PCC BenefitsPCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. Includes Health, Dental, and Vision options, Group Life, Long-term Disability, Long-term Care, and Auto and Home Insurance programs.

PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

*Please note: Temporary Academic Professional employees are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

  • Starts at 13.33 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of services)
  • 1 day of sick leave per month
  • 11 holidays
  • 3 additional personal leave days per year
