Job Purpose:

The Development Officer (DO) is a key member of the frontline fundraising team within the Division of Institutional Advancement. A successful DO will be a proactive and collaborative member of this dynamic team and a champion for the College’s highest funding priorities as we continue to plan for its next campaign. One of the College’s core values is integrity, and the DO will help foster a community that demonstrates respect for self, others and place.Working under the direction of and reporting to the Executive Director of Planned, Major and Leadership Gifts, the Development Officer manages alumni annual leadership donor relationships to secure gifts for the College’s top strategic priorities. The Development Officer manages a portfolio of donors, solicits multi-year commitments of $12,500 to $50,000, and provides blended giving program support to the Executive Director of Planned, Major and Leadership Gifts. The
Development Officer has an annual goal of raising $500,000 in new commitments annually.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of related experience in alumni/development activities that demonstrate leadership and accomplishment in moves management, gift solicitation and closes at $5,000+. Strong organizational capabilities are required as is demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively with many constituencies and partners in a university or non-profit setting. Willingness to travel will be essential. Other important characteristics of the DO include a strong work ethic, personal integrity, excellent communication, the ability to prioritize projects and support a collaborative approach to development and fundraising planning. Preference will be given to individuals with two years of higher education development or alumni engagement experience and who can demonstrate successful results and increased responsibility over time.
Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to work on several projects concurrently while meeting deadlines. Analytical skills are required. Ability to develop solicitation strategies around top university objectives/funding priorities.
This position is hybrid work eligible (works remotely at least 1 day per week but not full time).

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must have strong office/computer skills with applications such as Microsoft Office and Outlook. Candidate must be able to exhibit strong communication skills, both oral and written. Must excel in project management, be organized and show great attention to detail. Must have strong customer service skills. Experience with Raisers Edge NXT is a plus.

Additional Comments Regarding Position:

May be required to work occasional nights and weekends. Development travel will be essential for this position.

This includes four pan-campus and constituency specific direct appeals, monthly e-marketing through the College and Crescendo and 15-20 donor stories in collaboration with the Stewardship and Donor Relations and Marketing and Communication Offices.
