About the Clinical Psychology Program at the Washington DC Campus

The Clinical Psychology Program at the Washington DC Campus is a flagship program at The Chicago School. The Washington DC program started in 2010 and is accredited by the American Psychological Association. The program is known for its active and engaged student body, nationally and internationally recognized faculty, and dedication to social justice and diversity. Graduates of the Clinical Psychology Program go on to be highly sought-after practitioners and experts in their field. The Role in Brief

The Department Faculty of the Clinical Psychology Program at the Washington DC Campus of The Chicago School are the primary educators and advisors for students in the doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. Successful candidates will join a diverse and cohesive faculty of outstanding practitioner-scholars. Applicants must have a commitment to graduate instruction, training effective clinicians, supervising student research, academic advisement, and involvement in professional and scholarly activity. The Department Faculty reports to the Academic Chair, and will be based at the Washington DC Campus.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

  • Teach doctoral-level clinical psychology courses to students in the Clinical Psychology Program onsite at the Washington DC Campus
  • Provide ongoing academic advising, chair dissertations, and assist with admissions
  • Serve on departmental, campus, and institutional committees
  • Maintain active professional development or scholarship, broadly defined, and engage students in these activities
  • Mentor a diverse student body on issues pertaining to academic, clinical, professional, and scholarship development

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or related discipline (e.g., counseling psychology, social psychology, experimental psychology,). For those with clinical and counseling psychology degrees, applicants must have graduated from an APA-accredited program and be currently licensed or plan to become licensed within a year.
  • Area of specialty and faculty rank are open. however, special consideration will be given to those with expertise/ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: humanistic/existential psychotherapy, child and family therapy, neuropsychology, psychopharmacology, and scientific bases (e.g., physiological, social psychology).
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred.

This opportunity is budgeted at $65,000-75,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
