THIS POSITION IS IN JAPAN.

The senior librarian plays a vital role in serving students, bridging many departments at the campus, and serving as a point of contact between the Tokyo campus library and the Main Campus library staff in Philadelphia. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to student success and excellence at the university level.

Reporting to the associate dean of library and learning innovation, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the library’s day-to-day operations, which include staff coordination, public services, curating, budgeting, instructional development, program planning, and regular conversations with other academic units. The senior librarian will foster development and maintenance of library resources and services to meet the needs of all academic programs. Also, the senior librarian will help support new programs, assist with short-term and long-range projects, and participate in program reviews and accreditation efforts. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Required Education & Experience:
ALA accredited Master of Library Science degree and 3 years post-MLS experience in an academic or research library. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities:
* Substantial knowledge of automated access services, activities, and systems
* Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills
* Knowledge of both traditional and emerging academic library services, including public services, technical services, instructional technology, and open educational resources
* Excellent communication skills in English
* Ability to work with a diverse community in a professional, helpful, and respectful manner

Preferred:
* Additional graduate degree beyond an MLS degree
* Two years of department lead or supervisory experience
* Evidence of collaboration with external academic support services (e.g., teaching and learning center, office of disability resources and services, etc.) and academic affairs
* Teaching experience at the collegiate
